Host: EIC semi-final under the red Astoria banner

The 2015 edition of Host multiplied the thrills yesterday morning at the Astoria stand, which hosted one of the semi-finals for the Espresso Italiano Champion series, the competition for Italian style baristas promoted by INEI – Istituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano.

It was a challenging and compelling competition, reserved to true espresso perfectionists, who had to prepare four espressos and 4 cappuccinos with zero defects in just 11 minutes. Not only from a sensory perspective (evaluated by the jury in a blind taste test according to the standards set forth by the International Institute of Coffee Tasters – Istituto Internazionale Assaggiatori Caffè), but also with regard to execution: just a few minutes to make all the right moves and gain favor with the technical jury, overcoming insecurities and paying close attention to every single detail. Their companion in the contest was the machine of champions; that is to say the Plus4Champions, the queen of Astoria’s main bar at Host.

Time, execution and the impressions of the sensory panel awarded Fabio D’Aguanno, already the winner of the pre-selections hosted by Astoria last May, and Alam Robin, originally from Bangladesh but an Italian resident for many years. Congratulations for the excellent performances, even to the other competitors who contributed to the high technical level of the semi-final: Sara Trotta, Han Seung Woo, Maicol Grazioli and Marco Aloy.
